What a Difference Christ Makes -- Qué Diferencia Hace Cristo

This morning my Bible reading plan had me in Numbers 18. Verse 7 jumped out at me, especially the last sentence:

But only you and your sons may serve as priests in connection with everything at the altar and inside the curtain. I am giving you the service of the priesthood as a gift. Anyone else who comes near the sanctuary must be put to death.


What a difference Christ makes in our approach to God! Before, anyone besides the priests or Levites who came near the dwelling place of God had to be put to death. But now, through the indwelling Holy Spirit, we are the dwelling place of the Lord. We are the temple. The very jars of clay that once would have been destroyed for coming too close to God's presence, are now the bearers of God's presence to the world.

And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit. Ephesians 2:22.

Esta mañana mi plan de lectura bíblica me tenía en Números 18. El versículo 7 me llamó la anteción, especialmente la última frase:
Pero sólo tú y tus hijos se harán cargo del sacerdocio, es decir, de todo lo referente al altar y a lo que está detrás de la cortina. A ustedes les doy de regalo el sacerdocio, pero cualquier otro que se acerque a las cosas sagradas será condenado a muerte.


¡Qué diferencia hace Cristo en cómo nos acerquemos a Dios! Antes, cualquier persona que no fuera sacerdote o levita que se acercaba a la morada de Dios tenía que ser matado. Pero ahora, a través del Espíritu Santo, nosotros somos la morada del Señor. Nosotros somos el templo. Las mismas vasijas de barro que hubieran sido destruidos por acercarse demás a la presencia de Dios, ahora son los portadores de la presencia de Dios al mundo.

En él también ustedes son edificados juntamente para ser morada de Dios por su Espíritu. Efesios 2:22
